American mezzo-soprano Isabelle Kosempa is an old soul and an elegant performer, celebrated for her rich tone and timeless stage presence. With a voice that embodies depth and grace, she captivates audiences through heartfelt expression and classic artistry.
Having just completed her graduate studies at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, Isabelle studies under the guidance of Professor Nova Thomas. She made her debut with Shepherd School Opera as Samira in The Ghosts of Versailles, directed by Patricia Racette; portrayed Flosshilde in scenes from Das Rheingold during a masterclass with Tonya and Ryan McKinny; and appeared as the alto soloist in Handel’s Messiah with the Brevard Music Center. She went on to perform Meg Page in Falstaff during her second year and received an Encouragement Award in the Houston District of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition.
This summer, Isabelle joins Aspen Summer Music Festival as Dritte Dame (Die Zauberflöte) and Hermia cover (A Midsummer Night's Dream), as well as in several concerts throughout the program. She then spends the 2026-27 season as a Utah Opera Resident Artist, performing Calligraphy Teacher in The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs and Tisbe in La Cenerentola. She also joins the company for concerts and outreach throughout the season and performs as Alto Soloist in Messiah with the Utah Symphony.​​
